As an authentic bicycle brand SKS-Germany can look back on a long history of products Made In Germany. Karl Scheffer-Klute founded SKS (Scheffer-Klute Sundern) in Sundern, Germany in 1921. Pump production dates back to the year 1932 and celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2007. The major breakthrough for SKS came with the production of the first plastic bicycle pumps in 1956. In the peak years, up to 50,000 pumps were delivered each day. Today, high-quality mini pumps and floor pumps as well as special pumps for ambitious cyclists are of primary importance. SKS began producing mudguards after taking over the traditional British brand Bluemels in 1983 and in 1988 it started the large scale production of extruded mudguards. Later on, after taking over the ESGE production, SKS became a global household name for mudguards. With the development of the first quick-release mudguard sets for mountain bikes (Shockboard and X-Tra Dry) in 1999, SKS became a pioneer and market leader in the fast-growing segment of bicycle accessories. In 2003 the production of compact bicycle tools was introduced as an additional product area for the aftermarket. By adding highly innovative chain guards to its portfolio in 2006, SKS continues its tradition of providing solutions to the modern bicycle industry.
